My Story

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I graduated in from University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor's in Physical Education in 1992. I currently teach for CSUSA charter Schools. I'm in my ninth year in the district, having taught 6th,7th and 8th grade. I have coached many different age levels, but my favorite group to work with is the high school youth. Coaching has helped me gain a new appreciation for the game and makes me work harder. I have had coaches both good and bad, and they have helped me to develop my philosophy. All my experiences have made me who I am today and I always strive to be a better coach, and teacher.

PHILOSOPHY

I have been around the game of volleyball for over 40 years: playing, coaching, and reffing. My love of the game really motivates me in coaching. I like to pass on my years of experience to the young players who love this game just as much as I do. I believe in teaching the fundamentals of the game is key and building on that with positive reinforcement and challenging practices. I want to see every player maximize their ability fully and have them understand how valuable every minute of practice is. By developing the players both mentally and physically, I have no doubt, will lead to a successful and fun time on the court.

PLAYING EXPERIENCE

I have played for Antonio Luchetti high school, after high school, I played at University of Puerto Rico at P.R. as an Outside Hitter where I received my education bachelor’s degree. My first year of Professional player was in 1986 in Puerto Rico with the Montanese of Utuado and after 3 years they trade me to Gigantes of Adjuntas from where I retired in 1998. I started playing as an Outside hitter and finished playing as a Defensive Specialist because back to those years no Libero’s position was created yet.
